About

Gardens and green spaces, however small, are important for health and wellbeing. They have the potential to nourish life in all its diverse forms.

Encouraging wildlife can begin with small steps or a leap forward. The process is up to you. It could start with simply allowing a nettle patch to grow around your compost heap and watching butterflies fly by or allowing areas of your lawn to grow and mature to full length and watching seed heads move in the breeze. I can guide you through the process of enabling your garden to become a more nourishing place for wildlife.

Wildlife gardening doesn’t need to be costly, require a large space or be time consuming. Many native plants and animals may arrive by chance. They just need the right opportunity and an openness to change. Changing maintenance practices is crucial, but are generally less onerous, time and resource dependent than more traditional gardening practices. We can discuss ways in which you can encourage wildlife through good design and changes to practice.

I have worked as a self employed gardener for the last five years on small and large gardens across the Yorkshire Dales, Lancashire and South Cumbria. Previous to this my background was in education and wellbeing. (I hold a PGCE, Dip in counselling and an MA in Outdoor Education).

Currently I am working towards RHS level 2.
