Emma Mainwaring
About
I am a horticulturist with ten years experience, and a Level 2 RHS qualification. I have had the privilege of working in a diverse range of gardens from historic estates to urban backyards. My passion is for ecologically responsible, sustainable and regenerative methods and designs, and I love helping clients explore ways to make their gardens more wildlife-friendly and climate change resilient. Many people want to explore and experiment with a little more wildness in their gardens but are uncertain where to start – or how far to go! – so whether you want advice on relaxed mowing regimes, which ‘weeds’ to allow in the flowerbeds, or how to attract more pollinators to your patch, I’m here to help.
My services include:
Gentle maintenance of planted areas, shrubs and topiary
Border design / re-design / renovation
Planting design and plant sourcing
Mini-meadow creation and maintenance / alternative lawns
Container gardening
Native hedge planting
Advice on plant care and propagation
Advice on and planting of productive areas, veg/fruit/herbs/edimentals
Advice on environmentally responsible pest management
Bespoke tutoring in clients’ home gardens
I never use pesticides or peat, and as far as possible avoid the use of fossil-fuelled machinery and plastics.
